How I Work – Online Mediation

Say goodbye to room hire, travel and associated costs as you can now address your mediation needs from the comfort of your home, courtesy of remote mediation.

I’ve conducted a number of virtual mediations since the start of the pandemic and found that using apps like Zoom work extremely well and seem very popular with clients and professionals alike.

Once you’ve made your mediation booking, I’ll send you full instructions on next steps. Whether you decide to opt for a video conference or phone call, all applications are easy to use and don’t incur any extra costs for you or the other party.

Online mediation is identical to a face to face mediation, apart from the amount of daily walking involved given all parties are based either at home or in their offices. Note to myself: must fit in my daily walks on Wimbledon Common.

I’ll host the mediation and if you decide to go for the video conference option, we’ll have a range of virtual meeting rooms to use. Initially we will hold a joint meeting where we can all see each other and discuss matters together. Virtual “breakout rooms” offer a safe environment for confidential or more sensitive conversations and are available for both parties to use whenever necessary.

Also worth mentioning that any relevant documents can be shared together on screen, and once a settlement agreement is reached and terms are agreed, it can easily be scanned and signed electronically by all parties, which settles the dispute.

There’s no need to remember all of this, of course, as I’ll be guiding you through the entire process step by step.

And if you prefer a more old-fashioned hand shake upon settling your dispute rather than a virtual ‘nodding of heads’, I’d be more than happy to facilitate mediation in person, providing the latest government guidelines permit.
